Our Black IPA fuses speciality malts with a tropical punch bowl of new world hops to deliver a contradictory yet cultured concoction. A classically ‘pale’ aroma and quenchingly fruity palate belies a broodingly dark and deceptive appearance. Can a beer be both ‘black and pale’? Time to consult the Magic 8 Ball.

Sampled @ Borefts 2014. Dark brown color, small to average sized off-white head. Aroma is a bit faint, but that might be due to cold serving temperatures. Taste malts, dark malts, lightly some roast, nicely hoppy, nicely bitter. Quite good! Medium body and carbonation. Nice one!

Sampled draft @ Borefts 2014. Thank you! Dark brown black with no head. Lots of mocha, cacao in the nose. Taste is cold coffee, syrup, brown sugar, lightly bitter, touch grass. Nice but not very hoppy for the style.

Poured from keg at Grove Inn. Almost black as pitch. Shiny naked surface, dotted spots on the glass. Aroma of roasted, earthy malts. Dark fruity and dark honeyed flavours alongside coffee grounds leading to a long-lived ending of malty bitterness. Well bodied. A lovely, tasty drink (Huddersfield 09.07.2014).
