Our take on a "west coast style" IPA, Jagged Edge is big and hoppy, yet it’s also extremely well balanced, and surprisingly easy to reach for another.
We "first wort hop" with Columbus, and use Simcoe for flavor additions. The finishing hop additions include Columbus, Centennial, and Simcoe. Columbus is pungent with sweet orange aromas and flavor. Centennial adds floral notes along with additional citrus. Simcoe add a nice pine like flavor and aroma. These hops were chosen for their flavors and their moderate cohumulone content, which means they are bitter but not overwhelmingly bitter in large quantities. Pale malts are complemented by caramalt and light munich malts, which both enhance the malty sweetness and color and work to balance the substantial hop bill.

Bottle: Poured hazy copper with a off white head. Edgy juicy hops with a malt character. Nice hoppy forwards that leads into a nice malts.

Bottle @ benzai. Hazy deep orange colour with a medium sized, slightly creamy white head. Smells sweet, hops, imperial ipa, fruity, slightly resin, slightly pine. Tastes watery, hops, slightly floral, slightly soapy, slightly biscuit. Thin body, nice carbo.

Bottle @ home. Lightly hazy orange color, full sized off-white head that lasts for a long time. Aroma is malts, hops, quite fruity. Taste malts, some caramel, hops, a bit metallic, a bit dry, medium to firm bitterness. I think if I would try this fresh it would score close to a 4, but it is clearly past its prime. Still decent, but you can taste that the flavor has declined.

Tasted from a bottle I bought online somewhere. West Coast IPA with splendidly deep orange blonde colour, clear with quiet fizz but a hazy amber with deposit, under an irregular, creamy, thickly and broadly lacing, off-white, quite thick and stable head. ’Dank’ aroma of pine resin, rotting hay, pink grapefruit, fresh hemp, nettles, wormwood, orange peel, pineapple, basil, peaches in syrup, drying tomato, honey, gooseberries, samphire. Taste starts with a pleasant, sweetish-sourish fruitiness of pineapple, sour berries and apple paired with a weedy, hoppy ’celery saltiness’ from the start, as is not unusual for the style, (very) minerally and quite refreshing; a decidedly caramelly and somewhat nutty, lightly toasted maltiness underlies, gentle and mellow, with the spiciness of the hops playing on top of it and gaining strength in the process, unambiguously showing the way to a finish of resinous, spicy, citrussy hop bitterness lasting for a long time, yet remaining gentle enough to leave room for some subtle ’butterscotch’-like malt sweetishness to shine through; the initial saltiness accompanies the whole palate and seems to increase even in the end, adding further ’drought’, making me all the more thirsty yet bothering me a bit in the end, resulting in a kind of clear salty taste not unlike bakingsoda, lingering for a long time. Alcohol remains fairly well hidden. In all: a rather typical example of the style, but perhaps a bit ’too’ typical, delivering what anyone would expect from it, but not really distinguishing itself from its countless congeners. Still, I quite enjoyed it, and it did revive the hophead in me, though this saltiness was just a bit too much - I’d rather have hop bitterness staying with me. Just needs some more ’umph’ and could do with a little more body as well.

Thank you gentlefolk! Sampled 355 ml. bottle @ Delirium Hoppy Loft. Hazy orange, little white. Muddy watery orange peel nose. Bitter old vitamins, orange peel taste, herbal, moldy plaster & plants, malts. Herbal & malty body. Not very nice in my opinion.

Bottled 355ml. -at O’Hara Zagreb. Darker golden coloured, medium sized off-white head, hops and fruits in the nose. Moderate malty, citrusy fruity, slight herbal hoppy and touch of alcohol with notes of grapefruit in rather bitter finish and aftertaste. Ok brew.

Bottled at O’Hara Zagreb with Ribafish, thanks Marin & co! Misty to murky dark golden body with a small smooth white head that went away slowly. Malty aroma, orange, dry, sweet, sugary. Unripe (green) fruit in the taste, with some dry maltiness. Medium bitterness. Unimpressive but nice.
