Our Lost & Won Wee Heavy is back, and it’s bigger and better than ever before!
A wee heavy is a traditional Scottish ale that is rich, complex, malty and sweet. It goes perfectly at this time of year when the dark clouds form and the temperature dips. It is oh-so-smooth with gentle alcohol warmth that is perfect for sipping in front of the fire.
Lost & Won bursts with rich aromas of toffee and light caramel, with underlying notes of banana bread, golden syrup, butterscotch and dried fruit. The Scottish ale yeast strain throws off some wonderful subtle fruity esters reminiscent of cherries and berries.
The name and can design is inspired by The Scottish Play (aka Macbeth, by William Shakespeare). In Act I, Scene I, three witches meet in a deserted place amidst thunder and lightning. The second witch utters, in response to when they should meet again: “When the hurlyburly’s done, when the battle’s lost and won”.

355ml can. Pours a hazy copper-red with yeast particles in suspension and a small, creamy, short lived, tan head that fully dissipates. Sweet aroma of bready caramel malt, toffee, raisin and fig. Sweet flavour of bready caramel malt, cherry, plum, raisin, light chocolate, earthy yeast and a hint of booze in a dry, mild bitter finish. Medium to full body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Malt forward and tasty. The abv is well hidden, making this dangerously easy to drink.

On tap at Cabin, pours a deep dark red with a tiny white head. Aroma reveals dark red fruits, caramel and bready malt. Flavour is rich and fruity, with lots of dark red fruits, caramel, and bready malt. Rich and malty, with lots of depth. Very good.
