The Sculpin IPA is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. Founded in 1992, the Mart continues to be a catalyst for the San Diego brewing scene, setting the trend for handcrafted ales. Inspired by our customers, employees and brewers, the Sculpin IPA is bright with aromas of apricot, peach, mango and lemon. Its lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops. This delicious Ballast Point Ale took a Bronze Medal at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in the Pro Am category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on its fins that can give a strong sting. Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the most tasty. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.

335 ml. bottle from Systembolaget, poured in to a Tulip. Hazy, amber-golden colour with a creamy off-white head. Fruity aroma with grapefruit, grasses, sweet, tropical fruits and caramel malts. A toasted note. Taste is bitter. Medium body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter with citrus fruits and toasted notes. In essence a typical westcoast IPA.

Can shared thanks to Secret Santa bytemesis. Clear golden with fluffy white head. Mango, dank hops with lots of marijuana, orange peel, grass, light lime and lemon in the finish. Thereβs also some light biscuit malts but the hops are really taking the stage here. Light sweet and medium bitter with a light tart touch just before the finish. Medium bodied. Just like an IPA should be.

Bottle shared with EMJ and NH at OSB 13.01.16. Clear golden. Persistent off-white head and lacing. Aroma and taste of American hops, fresh pine shoots, grapefruit and lime, balanced with pale malt and a slight alcohol sting. Also some marmalade. Pine and grapefruit bitterness lingering on.

Flott kalibrert bitterhet i ettersmaken. Superfrisk ipa i beste amerikanske tradisjon. No poisonous stings here, just pure bliss.
