Simtra Triple IPA delivers a punch in the face with its very danky hop aroma derived from Simcoe and Citra hops. You wanted more hops you got them.

Golden, clear and not very foamy. Aroma has loads of dank hops, resins are strong. Taste is also revealing intense and dank beer flavours, not as fruity maybe as some others I just had room Knee Deep but still fresh and fruity. Taste is herbal-fruity. Resins maybe the strongest, grapefruit seeds on steroids. Long and resiny bitter linger in the finish. Again. I have no idea how they do this but it really works.

Massive hop assault from all directions. Imagine being pelleted with citra hops and force fed. It would be a combination of pleasure and pain, yet so deceivingly light experience. For 11.3% it’s a friggin masterpiece. Amazing beer.

On tap at The Gingerman, Manhattan, New York, USA. A golden coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, citrus, rich tropical fruit on the nose. Tastes similar, hoppy, citrus, tropical fruit, caramel. Quite a beast of an Imperial IPA, very good.

Bottled 08/13/16.
Poured into a snifter, the appearance was a glossy burnt orange slightly yellow color with a thin white foamy head that dissipated at a nice even pace. Slight messy lacing.
The aroma takes in a nice well balanced sweet to bitter citrusy hoppiness. Sweet onion dankiness slides in underneath.
The flavor takes in all of the previously mentioned aromas to balance spectacularly between the sweet to the bitter. Balanced bitter citrus/onion hoppiness hits nicely against the sweet malts.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body. Fantastic sipping ability helps create a long sweet to bitter balance rolling over my tongue. ABV feels well hidden.
Overall, a well executed DIPA that I would have again.

On tap at Manito. Aroma is onion, grapefruit. Pours mostly clear golden with a collar of big bubbly foam. Taste is oniony, licorice, alcohol. I’m not a big fan of oniony beers, but this isn’t as bad as some out there.

Bottle from Biernavigatie, dated 11/23/15, large sample. Clear golden color, short frothy head. Aroma of piney hops, bit grassy, slight caramel, malty. Medium bitterness, malty sweetness, pine, some alcohol. Finishes quite dry with bitter and alcohol. Too alcoholic at the moment. Maybe fresher the hops can hold up to the alcoholic power, but now its a bit too much. Not bad though, as it is a big sipper now.

Bomber sampled at home. Hazy orange with a white head. Smells like caramel, unripe mango, fresh pineapple, lime. The taste is very well balanced, full of fruity and bitter hop flavours. The alcohol is there, a bit in the smell and a bit more in the aftertaste, but still a fair amount less than I expected. Soft mouthfeel and medium bodied with a low carbonation and a hop bitter, alcohol spicy, tropical fruity aftertaste.

Bottle from Belmont Station, Portland
Hazy golden color with compact head. Tropical and citrusy explosion, perfect pale malt canvas, balanced. Lean, with very moderate residual sweetness. When you can conceal bitterness and alcohol so skillfully, the result is a great beer.
