On tap at Harry’s Hofbrau. Massive grapefruit, pine and resin on nose. Grapefruit is bright and beautiful. Pours a clear light gold with a white head that leaves quickly. Only a collar and slight webbing remain. Flavor is mostly pine and resin. Slight dank. Cracker-like malt supports well with nice residual sweetness. Finishes dry. Moderate high bitterness, but not overly so as can happen with this style.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/11/2013. Pours crystal clear golden amber color with a 2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of huge mango, peach, pineapple, lemon zest, tangerine, orange zest, floral, grass, honey, light caramel, and floral earthiness. Incredible aromas with big complexity of tropical/citrus hop notes with a moderate malt balance; and good strength. Taste of mango, peach, pineapple, tangerine, lemon zest, orange zest, honey, light caramel, floral, grass, light pine, and floral earthiness. Fair amount of earthy floral bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of mango, peach, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange zest, floral, grass, light pine, honey, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible balance and complexity of tropical/citrus hops flavors; with a moderate malt balance and doesn’t overpower the hops; and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a slick, sticky, and lightly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an incredible DIPA! Big balance and complexity of tropical/citrus hop flavors with moderate malt balance; and very smooth to sip on for 11.25%. An extremely delicious offering.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange gold with medium frothy white head that lasts awhile leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is strong floral hop and pine. Thick mouthfeel with strong citra hop and light sweetness with lingering bitter finish. Very good.

Clear light copper coloured body with a nice, dense three centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of super pungent and resinous hops, pine, grapefruit and a bunch of sweet and alcohol notes - dominated by passionfruit and pineapple. Full-bodied; Sweet flavour at first of pineapple and resin with a lot of body and malt depth right behind with massive amounts of hops afterwards - dominated by pine and grapefruit. Aftertaste shows a ton of alcohol warmth, a lot of honey and other sweet flavours and more hops than both of those combined - literally bunches of hops in the mix, plus with the alcohol and body, this one really is extreme. Overall, a pungent and super hoppy beer, but with the name goes the flavour - triple ipa, and it lived up to the billing - tons of hops, but so much malt backbone to go with it; If you have someone to drink this this, you’ll be much better off, because one person alone with this one isn’t easy, and I can attest to that! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Texas Liqour in Carlsbad, California on 19-March-2013 for US$10.99 sampled at home in Washington on 21-April-2013.

Pours medium gold and transparent. Nice white head that fades quickly. No real lacing. Nice bright nose. Dank, pine, some booze, tangerine rind, floral, malt sugar, lemons, peaches. Relatively dry for the abv, which is still fairly sweet. Something about going over 10% abv seems to make every DIPA a bit too sticky. My main complaint is that the hop bitterness is a bit bland. It’s not bad, just lacks complexity compared to some similar DIPAs. Mouthfeel is a bit sticky but, again, good for the abv. Medium to low carbonation. Lasting bitter finish. Good stuff. It could use a bit more hop complexity on the palate, but the nose works very well, and it’s quite good for the abv. I’m just not sure that I like when DIPAs go above 9% abv. Edit 1/20/13: Raised scores a bit after having had it a few more times. In particular, I’m getting a bit more hop flavor in the taste than I remember from my review bottle.
