Draught at Stateside Craft, Vancouver; listed at 6.4% ABV
Dark brown color, almost black, with generous compact head. Perfumed with coffee; and initially the coffee flavor is nice too; smooth; but suddenly there is a strong ashy feeling, burnt wood, bad coffee, carrying its unpleasant bitterness; there are also some hop resins.
Unbalanced.

very rich roasted malts, the hops are present but never overbearing. Most enjoyable beer from this brewery.

On tap at The Copper Hog in Bellingham, pours near black with a small beige head. Aroma is very black-IPA like with equal amounts of roasted malt and citrus hops bursting to the surface on the nose. Flavour is very roasty and hoppy as well, beginning with lots of roasted malt, then transitioning to the bitter hops. Lots of depth. A by-the-books, but well-executed black IPA.
