Bottled. A very dark brown beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, sweet and roasted malt, and some fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of sweet malt, as well as a bit of roasted malt, combined with medium notes of alcohol and dry fruits, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. A bit boring.

Draft @ Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel and dark fruit aroma with hints of licorice. Slightly roasted sweetish malty caramel and dark fruit flavor with weak smoky hints. Has a sweetish malty caramel finish.

This 25cl 2010 vintage is courtesy of stobbe74, thanks Soeren. It pours out a nice looking mahogany with brown ruby egdes and tan head. The aroma is boozy, cherries, prunes and more booze. The taste however starts somewhat neutral and then fills in with booze and some dark fruity esters. Toward midway and then into the finish I get additional notes of black tea like earthiness and dry roasted malts that both conspire to create a fairly dry finish. This is an interesting barleywine with roasted malts and earthiness being a different take on the style.
