Bottle. Poured a cloudy amber brown with a light brown head. A tart and sour aroma with an undertone of cherries. Flavor was nice, a tart cherry flavor with some oak and sourness to it.

Pours reddish brown with a small head. Aroma is sourish red berries wth oaky notes. Sourish cherry flavour with lots of oak.

Bottle. Pours in a dirty copper colour. Smells like a wet forrest. Forrest taste, rough mouthfeel, a bit sour and a grape wine taste.

Ahhh, I have had this beer more than any other JP brew. I have been trying different versions since the first oval labels appeared in NY (about 3 years ago). Its been up and down but it has really hit its stride here. I used to find that batches were not so good fresh but also not so good with too much time on it. So there was just a nice peak time in the middle. However, I think the batches of the more recent stuff aren’t limited this way. This is Blend 11, 2007, bottled on 12/14/07. Probably fridged the whole time, bought it at a store. It pours a clear cola brown color with a small head that leads to a long lasting lacing. Aroma is the best part of this beer, right away there is an authentic Flanders sour, aceto aroma. It is stingy aceto, with a bit of armpit sourness, and a thin balsamic vinegar. There is an authentic cherry-like aspect as well. The great part of the beer is it is actually does not have the traditional JP character and really comes off as a Flanders sour brew. I can keep smelling this for a while. Taste is playing with these aspects as well. It’s definitely less sour but that authentic cherry-like, faintly balsamic, Flanders sour aspect. Its a bit thinner n the flavor then I would like. There is a hint of sweetness at the back end. The mouthfeel is average, the carbonation is a bit subdued. The bottom of the bottle creates a thicker head, a thicker body, and lead shaving-like floaties. Its a bit, just faintly cheek tingling and dry. This is my fav regular offering.

750 mL bottle shared by Alraomon. Thanks! Pours a hazy reddish brown color. Good head retention and excellent lacing. Aroma is funky and fruity with notes of cherries and berries. Taste is funk, green apple, berries, butterscotch, olive, spice, caramel. Medium bodied.

Blend 5 (2008) thanks to ilovedarkbeer. Pours with a large, light brown head that stays for the duration and leaves sheets of lacing. Hazy ruby colored beer hides underneath. Aroma of vanilla, clove, plum, earthy caramel and some florals. Taste is sour and very floral and fruity with notes of red wine, plums and oak. Very carbonated with a trace of alcohol on the palate, dry mouthfeel.

Sour-sweetish flavor with caramel, cherries, other fruits, lacto, cellary character, and oak. Rounded mouthfeel. Very good. 8/3/7/4/15=3.7

Bottle sample at a tasting. Cloudy red wutg a beige head. Rather vinous funky aroma of oak, caramel, malt and some musty notes. Sourish-sweetish flavor with a bit of barnyard notes, some berries hints, some other fruits and some citric notes. Medium-bodied with strong carbonation. 8/3/7/3/15=3.6

(Bottle, blend 4/2008, at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2008-12-05) Ruby red and clear. Hardly any head. Sour, fruity and rather complex nose. Full bodied and really dry palate with medium carbonation. Sourness, bitterness, some fruitiness, sweetness, wood and malts in taste. Sour and bitter aftertaste.

bottle 60cl shared with faroeviking at home. aroma is spicy sourish, not that strong. citrussy notes in there. appears unclear red brown, large head. flavor is sort of like beer and sour fruit beer mixed, aftertaste gets dry then sweeter like apple. not much acid, but the sourness is nice and refined, alc. well hidden.
