440mL can, pours black with a medium light brown head. Aroma is rather intense, with loads of deep roasted malt, assertive earthy and piney hops, and some burnt coffee. Flavour is rich and yet balanced, with loads of roasted malt upfront, and hopped with plenty of earthy hops, some pine and burnt coffee grounds. Really nice balance, with both intense roast and hops. Excellent.

7/8/2020. Draught at the Moulsham Tap, Chelmsford. Pours black with a lasting off-white head. Aroma is chocolate, ash, citrus, dark fruits, sweet blackberries, roasted malts. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium body, average to soft carbonation. A really good black ipa.

440ml can. Murky, darkest brown colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige to tan head. Chocolately, roasty, dark malty and grassy, slightly citrusy fruity, hoppy aroma, notes of milk chocolate and cocoa, hints of orange, mandarine, orange flavoured chocolate. Taste is dry, citrusy fruity and grassy hoppy, roasty and chocolately dark malty, hints of lemon, orange zest, chocolate, cocoa, some bitter coffee, minimally ashy, smoky overtones. Maybe not the freshest hops used here - not fully convincing.
