Nicie is an American Wheat Ale brewed with orange zest, lemon zest, coriander, and a hint of peppercorn. Orange-gold in color and light in body, Nicie is infused with the scents and flavors of fresh citrus. The subtle taste of coriander and spice of peppercorn makes this ale both refreshing and complex. Nicie is the perfect accompaniment to a summer day.

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clear gold with a finger of white foam that dissipates. Bright orange zest on the nose with wheat aromas. Orange with a lingering strong black peppercorn finish. Too much black pepper for my liking.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a cloudy bright yellow color with a medium sized soapy white head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was tangy, sweet and fruity with a black pepper note. The flavor was dominated by strong black pepper followed by faint vague fruits and cracker. Long pepper finish. Medium body. Meh.

12oz bottle. Nicie. Pale yellow-tan body. Not much of ahead, looks like a soda. Medium bodied, thin, mild. Kind an undesirable play on an undesirable style. The peppercorns don’t add much, I mostly get coriander and orange peel. Bland malt tones, not a lot going on. Unimpressive.

My bottle does not say spicie, just nicie. Has the by line, tho. $2 @ vintage. Hay yellow color. Smells a tad metallic. Very good soda water like carbonation, zesty. Actually, this comes across like a highly carbonated wheat ale. Becomes a little medicinal in the middle. In the end it finishes a little better than many bitter wheat ales.

Tap at St Cece’s Detroit. Slight hazy golden with white head. Lots of herbs, coriander, definately get a lot of black pepper, lemon peel, dough, mustard seeds, bread. Light sweet and very light bitter. Medium bodied with soft creamy feel. Exactly what you’d expect.

2-4 oz bottle pour at SAVOR 2015’s Saturday night session. Clear yellow with off-white head. Aromas of floral and citrus notes. Tastes of malt, light citrus, wheat. Medium-light body with a dry finish.

Bottle. Orange/lemon peel and wheat malt aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Mildly sweet orange wheat malt and lightly bitter lemon/orange peel flavor. Clove in the finish. Body on the light side. Nice flavor but very light.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 6/13/2013. Pours very hazy bright golden amber color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of lemon zest, orange zest, pear, peppercorn, coriander, wheat, bread, herbal, floral, and earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and spice notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon zest, orange zest, pear, wheat, peppercorn, coriander, bread, floral, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of citrus zest, wheat, peppercorn, coriander, bread, and herbal earthiness on the finish; with some peppercorn heat building up as well. Nice and pleasant balance of malt and spice flavors; with solid robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, smooth, and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a solid spiced wheat ale. Solid robustness and good balance of malt and spice flavors; and very smooth to drink. An enjoyable offering.
