Nicie is an American Wheat Ale brewed with orange zest, lemon zest, coriander, and a hint of peppercorn. Orange-gold in color and light in body, Nicie is infused with the scents and flavors of fresh citrus. The subtle taste of coriander and spice of peppercorn makes this ale both refreshing and complex. Nicie is the perfect accompaniment to a summer day.

bottle - Pours hazy gold with a small white head. It has a yeasty aroma with bananas and subdued spice. The flavor is sweet up front with some spices, but it finishes with some off tasting bitterness with a band aid like character. That’s not a good thing. It’s light bodied and drinkable, but I’m not impressed.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a tulip glass (drank Mar ’12) to a hazy gold colour with a thinnish white head. Smells of orange peel/zest, other hints of citrus and some peppercorn, corriander and a pinch of other ’unidentifiable’ herbs! Flavour wise a sour orange and to a lesser extent lemon dominates the mouth allied to background flavours of wheat and moderate spice. Also get the peppercorns again particularly in the finish however there was also a background ’sweetness’ to the beer which I don’t think overly helped the balance of flavours! Mouthfeel was light to medium in body, perhaps a little too thin and watery? Overall not impressed. Not a particularly well balanced beer and a little thin. Slightly ’spicie’ but not so ’nicie’ - they must have set themselves up for a review along those lines and I’m sure I’m not the first to quote that and I won’t be the last! Would not seek out this beer in any way shape or form in the future. I would imagine the only likelihood of me drinking again would be on a hot summers day as I guess it has ’refreshment’ potential in such conditions, but someone would have to gift me a bottle!

Bottle thanks to mikem409: Poured a yellowish white with a carbonated white fluffy head. Aroma is light citrus orange and lemon, zesty spice, and wheat. Taste pops with spice specially feel that peppercorn tingle right from the start, loads of citrus fruit along with a soft cereal make very drinkable and enjoyable.

Bottle at home ... amber ... thin white head ... sweet resinous oily lime ... light spice nose ... light fizz ... ginger ...orange coriander ... little too sweet ... juicy ... odd but interesting

0.355l bottle from beermerchants.com This one pours a light cloudy honey-colored body, lots of packed unfiltered floaters and a small bubbly and quickly sidesticking white head. It smells fruity. Yeah, really bubblegum and sweet candy fruity. Gummy bears with some spicy tones. Hard to pinpoint, but it smells quite nice. It's quite different in the flavor. No sweetness what so ever. Not even a hint, and it's quite zesty and spicy. Almost like a wit gone bad? (Like in wild). It's really hot outside today, and this is one of those it's light to drink when it's quite hot outside. A bit thin and watery texture makes this a easy to drink and thirst quenching alternative to water. A hint of sourness in the finish and a light stingy peppery aftertaste. The aftertaste is actually so stingy that I have to re consider the quenching ability of this beer. Could just have been that I'm really dehydrated now.. 24.05.2012

355ml bottle. Slightly cloudy orangey golden colour with small white head. Somewhat dubious aroma; analytically interesting: fresh and spicy notes, orange cest, pepper; not really felicitous as composition. Taste has a coriander note in addition to the orange zest and pepper. The result is a bit to soapy and should be absorbed my more freshness and sweetness (an additional lemon and orange or even banana contingent?)

Bottled. An unclear golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of spices and lemonpeal. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of spices, cloves, lemongrass, and more, leading to a dry spicy finish. A bit too much for me. Thanks pinball for sharing.
