Bottle at Kessingland chalet picked up from Morrisons. A clear deep red copper coloured pour with a lasting khaki head. Aroma is earthy roast malts, plum, prune, raisin, peppery, rye bread. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, rye bread, liquorice, light treacle, tangy dark fruit. Rustic, agricultural. Palate is semi sweet, tangy, airy carbonation,

Clear amber beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Light palate, mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Thin bodied malts, some watery cream and caramel. Ripe fruits, date, fig and bruised citrus. Light finish. Tastes like a Camra special. Don't hate it, has a style, never gonna be even remotely excited about it.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe, online. Pours dark reddish-brown, small light beige head which lasts quite well, nice lacing. Aroma is sweet with malts, caramel, berries. Taste is sweet, malty, toffee, earthy, pepper, hint of berry fruitiness but less than the aroma suggests. Dry mouthfeel, light to medium bodied. Its quite good.

Bottle from Morrisons Supermarket in Cromer. Drank unceremoniously from its distinctive bottle in the dark on a campsite in the seaside town. Subtle red ale, although has the characteristics and taste and pretty decent regardless.

Bottle at home found in a weird shop in Norfolk. Great pour with a gorgeous rich colour in the glass. This is malt all the way with maybe a slight bitter hops lurking in the background. Loads going on for the abv.

Bottle online from Beers Of Europe. Pours a clear ruby colour with a one finger throthy beige head. Aromas of nuts, caramel and peppery spice. Taste has lots more nuts and peppery spice, more caramel and also light hints of chocolate. Medium body, fairly low carbonation and smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Light roasty finish. Nicely balanced. Lacing down the glass. Very nice beer. Enjoyed.

Auburn with a frothy, beige head that lingers. Aroma full of toffee with a hint of spice underneath. Faint berry-like fruitiness. Taste is bittersweet to mildly sweet. Lingering toffee and pepper. Medium-bodied, mild carbonation. Pleasant.

500ml weird-shaped St Peter's bottle bought from Beers of Europe and drunk at home. Mid- to dark red and translucent with a ring of off-white head. Light spicy and malty aroma. Sweet taste initially, with hearty malt notes. It's fairly bitter in the rounded finish, more malt in the aftertaste. Medium to heavy carbonation. Pretty good. Did I mention it's malty?
