Indigenous to northern Europe, Baltic Porters historically stem from the shipping of British porters to the Russian hinterland. Unlike their British cousins, Baltic Porters are often brewed with lager yeast, which is the tradition we follow. Big & bold, with flavors of coffee, dark fruit & raisins, this black beer is smooth as a chocolate swirl.

Pours a rich black-brown from a bottle. I’m getting dark chocolate, dried cherries in the nose, similar flavor with a bit of sherry. Also, I swear it tastes a little like chocolate pudding on the finish, like a good one made with dark chocolate. Very good beer.

Il gusto al naso è tipico della liquirizia. L’intensità olfattiva è normale e la persistenza olfattiva è sufficiente. Il cappello di schiuma ha una scarsa tenuta, con bollicine fini e carbonazione abbondante. Il perlage ha bollicine medie. La frizzantezza è vivace, persistente ed insistita. Il colore è scuro impenetrabile. Il corpo è strutturato ma duttile. L’amaro è medio. L’intensità gustativa è elevata e la persistenza gustativa è buona. Il gusto è piacevole. Le sensazioni boccali finali sono lunghe e di birra impegnativa. Il finale è felpato, lungo, pulito e complesso. Il retrogusto è intenso. L’aroma in bocca riporta sentori cereali, liquirizia, arrostito, frutta secca, etilico e alcol presente.

Bottle. Dark brown color with beige head. Aroma is black chocolate, prunes, plums. Taste is prunes, chocolate, quite fruity. A bit boozy towards the end. Low to medium carbonation. Excellent drinkability.

12 fl.oz. bottle. Pours very dark brown colour with a huge creamy good lasting brownish head. Aroma of sweet roasted malt, caramel, vanilla, chocolate, some riped fruits. Taste of intense creamy sweet dark roasted malt, vanilla, cookies, chocolate, creamy mouthfeel, very good!

(bottle, 35.5cl) Black coloured hue with a brown and firm short foamy head. Mildly sweet/molassy and moderately roasted malty aroma with earthy notes, liquorice, chocolate, also hints of ashes, smoke and traces of herbal spice. Bitter-sweet flavour, quite full bodied with a silky carbonation. Well-embedded roasty malty taste with a cornucopia of flavours: liquorice, chocolate, coffee and subtle fruity notes; balanced and lasting bitter-sweet finish with a muted alcoholic strength. Bottle pour into shake pint glass, from Cigarette City, Seabrook NH. Aroma is roasted malts with caramel, dark fruit, mild chocolate, some alcohol. Appearance is opaque black with 1/2 finger width light brown head with poor retention and no lacing. Taste is sweet roasted malts with caramel, notes of dark fruit, raisins, chocolate and some bitter coffee flavor for balance with mild alcohol taste. Palate is full bodied with soft, velvety texture, soft carbonation and mix of sweet/bitter, warm, pleasant finish. Overall, this isn’t perfect (the alcohol is a little too apparent in the taste), but it’s close.

Bottle at home, 25th November 15. Pours black, lovely neat head. Aroma is liquorice, dark chocolate, milk, coffee. Taste is slight liquorice, dark chocolate, coffee, milkshake, really smooth and highly drinkable.
