Handpump @Bibere Bistrot (Rome). Pours deep brown with a medium cappuccino head. Aroma of roasted malts, lot of chocolate and some mocha, vanilla, amazing. Flavour is sweet with a light bitter end, chocolate and coffee. Full body, light carbonation. Wow!

Poured from bottle thanks Willrunforbeer. Dark black pour with a nice chocolate head. Aromas of dark fruit chocolate and malt. Taste follows with a nice mouth feel and pleasant finish.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled in 1/2015. Pours pitch black color with a 1 finger fairly dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, molasses, raisin, plum, fig, licorice, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, dark fruit, and earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, molasses, raisin, plum, fig, light licorice, light smoke/char, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Good amount of roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, molasses, raisin, plum, fig, light smoke/char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt, earthy hops, and light-moderate dark fruit flavors; with a good roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, fairly creamy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome Baltic porter. All around great robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/roasted malt, earthy hops, and dark fruit flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle shared by Benzai at tderoeck’s place. Stable, light beige, dense head over a very dark chestnut beer, almost black. Very rich and tempting aroma, vanilla, cocoa, candied dates, bayleaf, liquorice, banana, cognac, espresso. Refined sweetish onset, banana, nuts, caramelly malts, oily mouthfeel, very chocolatey (or at least more than expected from a Baltic porter), quite deep and rich, some iron but in a good way; in the finish, a subtle whisky touch pairs beautifully with drying, peppery hop bitterness and residual malt sweetness. Delightful, especially for this style, which is usually less ’lush’ and complex. Typical American craft brewery take on the style, I’d argue.

Bottle shared by me @ Tim needs to get rid of his ticks tasting. Black color, medium sized light brown head. Aroma is malts, dark malts, a hint of roast. Taste malts, dark malts, moderately sweet-bitter flavors, bitter, liquorice, soft roast. Velvety oily texture, medium body, soft yet suitable carbonation. Lovely beer.

Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet, caramel, sugary, overripe banana, vanilla, some chocolate. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: pretty sweet start, some alcohol, dark chocolate, caramel, bit sugary. Aftertaste: fruity, some banana, caramel, alcohol, dried fruits, lots of dark chocolate.
