On draft at The Sovereign in Georgetown. Pours black with a thick tan head. Aroma of leather and tobacco. Flavors of licorice. Bitter roast finish.

Draft at The Sovereign in DC. Poured a dark brown color. Aroma was light funky notes. Sour dark chocolate, coffee grounds. Molasses in there. Pretty tasty!

Draft. Opaque dark brown color, tan head. Aroma of cocoa powder, coffee grounds, edge of smoke. Taste is earthy cocoa and espresso, bitter finish. Very nice.

Dark brown to black colored, unclear, medium tan head. Aroma is of chocolate, roasted malt, brown sugar and vanilla bourbon. Taste follows the nose, medium+ sweet caramel and brown sugar, chocolate and coffee, bit dark fruits, vanilla bourbon, some alcohol. Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation. (on tap, De Struise brewery, Oostvleteren)

[9/19/15] Draught at the brewery in Oostvleteren. Dark brown. Aroma of caramel, malt, candy, dark fruits. Sweet and slightly sourish flavor with caramel, dark fruits, some roast. Medium-bodied.

Draught Cream head, gone in secs, near jet-black beer. Fortified wine, liquorice, wood, chocolate, Bourbon, generally sweet. Sweet chocolate and liquorice; again Bourbon somehow, and chalk, drier. Medium to well-bodied, some alcoholwarmth, chocolate in the aftertaste. Rich for 7% ABV only.

From tap. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted dark malty. Liqourice. Sweet, light yeasty phenolic. Roasted dark malty. Chocolate and hard roasted. Liqourice. Dry and bitter finish.

Black appearance. Very roasty aroma, also a bit woody. Flavour has some port or rum sweetness.
