Hazy brown with red highlights; medium head, yellowish and fast gone. Sweet spices, they say, but I get brandy cask, and a very vinous nose. A bit mouldy and very vinous taste, even brandy-like flavours. Spices are thery, but restrained. Very long-lingering taste. Rich full-bodied, little alcoholburn. Nose of roasted grain, black chocolate, fresh vegetables, alcohol and quite some hops. Luscious black-bitter chocolate in the taste all through. Some roasted grains again and something vegetable, but all is losing out to the chocolate. Chewy mouthfeel, but not too thick. Some alcohol in the throat. Roasted grain/chocolate keeps all-overpowering. Excellent for the afficionados of this style, maybe a bit unilateral to others (compared to some French/Brittany black beers).

Bottled. Nut brown. Sweet, rich and malty. Roasty, woody with lots of almonds. Hoppy, salty finish. Excellent!
