Brown with a dark and sustained colour, topped with a light mousse. First lactic and cheesy, the nose reveals delicious accents of coffee and roasting, and notes of heated brown sugar, cane sugar and . The palate is reminiscent of roasted and toasted, with a very present caramel touch. EBC 80.

33cl bottle from Carrefour Market Cours St. Michel in Brussels. F: medium, beige, average retention. C: dark brown, hazy, opaque. A: dark malts, chocolate, liquorice, pear, coriander, red apple peels, coffee touch. T: sweet dark malty, chocolate, caramel, dark fruits, bit red apple peels, candy sugar, bit spicy, medium to full body, medium carbonation, quite nice for the style, enjoyed.

Bière 33 cl trouvée à La vie Claire à Lille. Robe ambrée, fine mousse crémeuse. Nez sur le café, le caramel, le malt torréfié, le pain d'épices, les fruits secs. Bouche équilibrée et saveurs riches de café, caramel, malt. Très bonne bière brune, qui a en plus le mérite d'être bio.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker. Pours hazy dark brown with a collapsing, frothy, beige head. Aroma of caramel, raisin, faint iron & rainwater, sugared peanut, apricot, 'wet' cinnamon, clove, red apple. Taste has sweet raisin & fig in caramelly & cake-like maltiness, some apple & pear, vaguely sourish and balanced by a thinly phenolic clove-like touch, already warming up, with retronasal iron & yeast. Dryish, malty finish, faintly herbal hoppy, phenolic too, lingering dried fruit, caramel, softly warming liqueur alcohol. Medium body, thin syrupy texture, lively carbonation. A bit too sharp, not very rounded, but surprisingly tasty.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BBE 4/19, from Alko, 20171208) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had caramel, candy sugar and toasted malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, caramel, candy sugar, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A thin dubbel with pleasant aroma.

33cl bottle, from Alko. Bbe 04/2019. Poured mahogany deep color, thin, lasting off white head. Looks great. So is the aroma, ripe fruits, plums, caramelized sugar. Hint of tartness in the dark fades away and gives room to plummy goodness, caramel glazed dates. Some alc warmth. Lovely Belgian ale overall.

A brown beer, a head is medium and beige. Aroma has tasteful and sweet fruitness, vigs, apricot, also aromatic notes of flowers, some spices. Plums and raisin when the beer is warmer. Taste has sweet fruits, fresh and dried, plums, apricot, low spicyness. Medium bodied, high carbonation. Fresh fruitness without dried fruity heavyness of typical dubbel. Similar notes that have in the great Abbaye des Rocs Triple Impériale. Great beer and positive surprise.

Hazy chestnut brown. Fizzy ivory head. Low retention. The aroma is prune, nuts, caramel, liqeur, yeast. Medium body. Medium dry rich malty taste. Big dried fruit. Subdued yeast. Light hopping. Nice dubbel.

Feb. ’16. A 0.33 l bottle that poured hazy brown body with huge corresponding head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, dark fruits, yeast and a bit of alcohol. Flavor was lightly sweet, malty, caramel, fresh ripe and dried fruits, licorice, cocoa and wood with only a light vinous dubbel-ish note. Quite a complex brew, with the full body. Finish was pretty long, sweet malty and lightly warming. Really nice and a tasty dubbel that evolved significantly over the style boundaries to general Belgian strong ales, but I won’t mind.

Bottle from an Antwerp fest. Poured a clear medium brown with a thin broken very light tan head. The aroma is yeast, sweet malt, alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet with a rich alcoholic, light liqourice, sweet malt, light yeast palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation and a frothy mouthfeel.
