Bottle at gollem Pours dark brown , copper glow . Ok white head . Smell is chocotoff , caramel . Overcarbonated . Taste is caramel , sweet , bit earthy . Chocotoff yet again . Balanced , but very much to the sweet side . Rather complex . Ok

I am a bit unclear about this "Saint-Martin" abbey beer range: is this the same beer as the Saint-Martin Lumière d’Hiver that was in existence till 2007? I suspect it is, and the Lumière d’Hiver has been replaced as the winter beer in its range by the slightly stronger Saint-Martin de Noël. This one shows a very thick, rocky, dense, tanned head which eventually collapses but leaves a good lacing on the edge; colour a very dark wine red, near blackish, misty. Powerful aroma of port wine, milk chocolate, coffee, almond, overripe pear, coriander, cinnamon, banana liqueur, butter and a whiff of bay leaves. Sweet taste, dark fruits, port, somewhat oily mouthfeel, in the middle a deep dark maltiness with chocolate and caramel notes, dryish spiciness, some candi sugar, finish roasted bitter with a peppery hoppiness and warm, a bit astringent and therefore insufficiently hidden alcohol.

Dark brown colour. Medium carbonation. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel and liquorice. Sweet with bitter finish. Typical Belgian dubbel.

Bottled 330ml. -from Svijet Piva Zagreb. Brownish/amber coloured, medium sized beige head, dryish nutty and fruity nose. Quite fizzy. Moderate malty, nutty, overripe fruit and alcohol with notes of sugar and spices. Hint of roastiness in the finish. Weak yeasty also. Expected better one.

330 ml bottle. Pours dark red/brown with moderate head. Aromas of raisins, copper, spice, and toasted malts. Flavors of dates, liquorice, and dark caramel. Metallic and a bit watery but still a good quaff.
