Brewer Jef Van Den Steen is a knowledgeable man when it comes to Belgian beer history and it is a delight seeing a ’Scotch’ type beer, nowadays almost forgotten, emerge as a winter beer, since the most typical Belgian Christmas ales are based on the Scotch style. Light beige head, very dark brown colour; candi syrup, chocolatey malts, pear, banana, cinnamon, coriander in the nose, dark fruity taste with caramelly and chocolatey maltiness and, as the style prescribes, a hint of roasted, coffee-like bitterness in the background. Well made.

Initial aroma of smoked peat. Pours cloudy brown with ok head and lacing. Wasn’t quite what I expected but still good. Finished sweet and sour. Tap at Churchkey.

Doskonale i wysmienite piwo w stylu scotch. Wspaniale wyglada z bojna i ciagle rosnaca piana, kolor kasztanowo miedziano brazowy. Smak karmelowy, troche przyprawowy i nieco octowy tzn kwaskowaty posmak. Wytrawny i taninowy. Finisz rozgrzewajacy. Wszystkie walory i zalety piwa zimowego sa tu ok. No i do tego ta ladna papierowa owijka. Klasa godna poleceniu nie tylko na zimowe wieczory.
