750 ml bottle. 2011 vintage. Pours a brown/ruby color with medium head of big bubbles that dissipate quickly. Aromas of spice, dates, raisins, toffee and roasted malts. Flavors of nuts, dark fruit, and spice. Quite metallic though. Taste is a bit if a let down after the nose.

75 cl. bottle @ home from Willems. Bottled on 09/10/2010 – quite odd for a bottle this old to be lying around in a store where the rest of the stock is quite young. The label says that it is good for at least two years after bottling. Once opened - G U S H E R – it just continuous gushing, even after I have poured & lost about half of it, the bottle, half filled with foam continuous gushing. Not a good sign but going by the taste this luckily appears to be more of a yeast issue or something rather than an infection, good. Very dark mahogany, intense red hue, obviously huge beige head that slowly collapses. Nose is very sweet BE Christmas spices, very sticky molasses, very overripe dark fruits, stainless steel, Grand Marnier cake, sticky candy sugar & something wrong maybe infected after all still and not overdone? Tastes like kvass, black bread soaked in a doppelbock, very overripe dark fruit, sticky candy sugar water, light burn, sweet malts, supermarket chocolatedrink, very sweet BE spices, some coca-cola & metals, brandy soaked cake. Body is a touch lighter & carb. is overt. Feels a bit like they made bit off a mess trying to go to a high ABV still quite interested – almost a bit like a DE & BE hybrid. Does certainly improve when it warms up.

This was another unexpected pleasure today at vintage, sample prices are a little high but its a great beer palce, yesserrie. I see "canaster" as the discription of this and I am intrigued. Cloudy brown fromnthe tap. Slight tart taste but not punching. Goes down easy, pretty yummy. Easy to enjoy, I like it. Could have more of this. Has a wild side to it. Nice lacing, yes very interesting to look at it . Barely any co2. taste is good and better than expected. One of the best scotch ales I’ve ever tasted, goes to show you, go to the source for a feel of the styles real attributes. Seriously, you would never know this is 10%, comes across more like 4.8%, heheh.

Bouteille: Reddish chestnut-amber coloured, stable off-white foamy layer, sweet caramelly-toasty nose, some vinous traces detectable, a bit like a german Doppelbock; moderate sweet-sourish flavour, light to medium bodied, but a bit slim for a beer of 8.7%; some vinous traces, again, in the fruity-caramelly finish. a good brew, not too demanding...

750 ml bottle courtesy of rlgk. Pours hazy and cloudy reddish brown with a huge frothy goldenish brownish beige head that slowly dissipates while leaving some trace and lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with cereal, dark bread, hay, dusty old raisins, caraway, black pepper, dry wood, ginger, caramelized apples, figs and leather. Taste is very sweet and malty with sweet dark bread, overripe pears, caramelized red apples, raisins, cereal, hay, dates, golden syrup, dry wood, powdered ginger, black pepper and figs. Mouthfeel is round, sticky sweet, tiny boozy and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and malty with sweet dark bread, raisins, overripe pears, red apples, cereal, hay and hints of caraway, powdered ginger and black pepper. Not a fan.,.

Aroma is very sweet with malt, some ripe fruits and raisins. Flavour is really sweet with raisins, some ripe fruits, caramel and hints of orange peel. Too sweet for me – but then again what else could a ’winterscotch’ be?

Drank at the 2007 Zythos fest. One of my favourite beers on the day. Dark mahogany red with a large creamy off white head. Malts and liquorice combined to give it a rich wintery aroma, coal fire smell without the smoke feel. Fairly dry, but something in there gives it a sweetish finish, which strangely gives way to a bitter after taste. This is a complexed beer and well worth finding, trying.

750mL bottle, pours a murky dark amber with a towering beige head. Aroma of yeast, scotch, caramel and some candied sugar. Flavorur is the same range of flavours, with a very yeasty and highly carbonated body. Quite nice.
