Wrapped bottle, striped red paper with sticker "Peated whiskey cask" on the lower right end of the "logo" .
An 9% ABV beer in which the fermented sugars were all obtained from malt (20 degrees Plato).
A generous dose of hops and a long maturation time makes this beer best of the best.
This beer is bottle conditioned and will go through taste evolution during many years.
Selected by the brewer from his best peated whisky casks. Matured for a quarter of a year.
Winner of the Zythos Beer Festival (ZBF) consumer prize 2011.

Fles thuis gedeeld met WM. Diep donkerbruin bier met beige schuim. Aroma en smaak van koffie en hout. Lekker van smaak maar jammer dat de nasmaak vlug wegebt.

Bottle (thanks harri). Pours dark amber-black. Aroma is sweet, malt, roast, smight peat. Flavor is sweet and bitter, peat, malt, metallic notes. Finish is sweet and malty. Body is on the thinner sideOverall: good.

Frothy beige head soon left a good cover on a hazy chocolate coloured body. Big aroma of dark chocolate, whisky, dark fruits & dark spirits. Medium bodied, finely carbonated, smooth on the palate - feels creamy. Clean on the back. Taste is much as the aroma with chocolate, whisky, peat, dark fruit, grape, some bitter citrus hints and a long sweet smokey finish. This is a big complex beer.

Bottle. Dark brown pour. Aroma of smoke, peat, iodine, coffee, ripe fruit and caramel. Taste has nice meaty peat, smoke, caramel, figs, iodine and raisin. The islay works really well, tasty beer.

Many thanks for this Amazing beer to tderoeck. 660ml Bottle (Nr. 12099) from 01 February 2011. Wyglad papier zgrabnie zwiniety i zszyty z przewieszka. Wyglad cieczy poczatkowo ciemno bursztynowo-czerwona. Po dolaniu pokaznej ilosci osadu bardzo ciemno brazowe, nie przezroczystej barwy. Zapach zwala z nog jest torf, ziemistosc, wilgotna piwnica, nieco palonej gumy. W smaku sliwka w czekoladzie mlecznej, rozpuszczone kukulki, melasa, syrop klonowy, lody o smaku tiramisu i slodkawe pierniki Norymberskie. Nieco korzennych przypraw, whisky, nieco wedzonej sliwki, slodycz czekolady mlecznej. Alkohol po tych wszystkich smakach cudownie rozgrzewa, ale tylko chwilowo. Piana srednia i srednio trwala, bezowa. Po dluzszej chwili od przelkniecia do wszystkich tych smakow dolaczaja kasztany jadalne, jakby pieczone nad dymem z drzewnym i popite kwaskowa czarna kawa. Mimo ciut dominujacej tu jednak slodyczy to piwo jest fantastycznie genialne. Big thanks to Tim. Great beer.

dubbel-like apperance of brown colour and one inch creamy beige head, which lasts for several minutes; aroma and taste is dominated by smokey, whisky and peated notes with also some chocolate, hints of herbs and syrupy sweetness...not a usual Belgian strong ale...more like a smoked imperial stout with Belgian strong ale notes...definitely an extraordinary beer, but a bit too much for me
