Dark brown. Bittersweet flavour. Toasty, almost burnt malts. Light cocoa and coffee. Well balanced. Easy to drink.

Dark ale with light beige, creamy head and clear bronze colour, not anywhere near the ’blackness’ I expect from a beer presenting itself as a stout. Pleasant, perfumey aroma of gingerbread, coriander seed, liquorice, caramel, toasted bread, herbs, candied dates, port wine and orange peel; fluffy, supple mouthfeel yet somewhat thinnish body, sweet but not cloying taste, nice berry-like fruitiness, spicy hints of coriander and liquorice, toasted malt bitterishness in the finish with some leafy hops. Nice beer alright, but this is not a stout at all, rather a Scotch-kind of ale.

Clear red brown beer, creamy off-white head, little stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: spicy, liquorish, strong, sweet, some caramel. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very spicy, liquorish, roasted touch, some chocolate, little bitter. After-taste: caramel, chocolate, liquorish, coffee, weird finish.

Sampled draft @ O.B.E.R. Kestbierfestival 2014. (Thx!) Appearance is blackish dark brown, big beige head. Nose is metallic, syrup, malt, light roasted coffee. Taste is cacao, cheap chocolate, plenty of syrup, cheap coffee, bit thin & metallic. Body is grainy. Bitterness is faint. Pretty decent.
