Our style of brewing has always been about taking chances. It’s an extension of our “What if” mentality, wherein we ask ourselves what would happen if we did things differently in the brewhouse, such as fermenting with a different strain of yeast or, in the case of this beer, incorporating whole-leaf green tea imported from Japan. The answer, embodied in this IPA when we first released it in 2011, was something truly magnificent, delicious and well worth brewing again. But what if we changed it up a bit? This time around, we exchanged Pacifica hops from New Zealand for Helga hops from Australia. The result is an IPA that’s as bright, herbaceous and bitingly hoppy as the one that’s had our fans requesting its return ever since its depletion from store shelves, but with a modern, hop-driven twist that makes this second draft unique and tasty in its own right.

Draft @ Stone vs. Moeder event, Moder Lambic, Brussels.

draft@Stone vs. Moeder: hazy orange with a fluffy white head, smell grapefruit & pine hops mixed with very strong floral & herbal notes, taste is bitter floral hops upfront followed by a very herbal, sweeter taste afterwards, slightly fruity, I am getting some herbal tea and very light jasmine but I am not getting any green tea, a bit more interesting than great

Draught Small yellowish dense head over hazy orange-ochre beer. Orange zeste², much more than tea, very intense, pinch of ginger, flowery. I’m thinking of orange-flavoured, half-fermented tea ("Darjoolong"). Again dry, spicy-bitterish orange zeste, even a bit mouldy, or blue curaçoa orangepeel. Hops are perfectly in balance (what kind??). Spritzy, refreshing, medium bodied. No new flavours in the aftertaste, but long-lasting main flavour. An "interesting" beer - in all senses of the word. Mind, I WOULD drink it again, gladly.

A hazed dark amber ipa with a thin big bubbled light mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with dark fruits and tea extract, herbs, pleasant. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with resinous hops, treacle, tea notes, OK. Bottle from 2011.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Dublin/Columbus. Pours an almost murky orange with lots of floating particles. Medium sized off-white head. Good head retention. Aroma of citrus, herbal and floral hops, lemongrass, mild tea notes, caramel malts. The taste is big strong tea notes, citrus hops and caramel malts. Medium bodied. Well done.

Bottle at Paradiso Dupont, recommendation of Greg, shared with a whole bunch of folks. Cloudy orange, thick white head head. Aroma of (no kidding) green tea! Taste resembles a slightly sour and moderately bitter saison. Nice.

12oz 9.2% ABV brew pours out semi hazy orange like copper with thin white head. The rather firm robust aroma forces up notes of booze enhanced orange juice, some herbal green-ness, citrus fruit skin, pineapple and tangelo. Man, lots going on here. The taste is similar with sort of an orange juice, tangelo juice and mango like hop flavor and a sense of booze. I get only a mild bitter hoppiness. Wow, lots of robust citrus and tropical fruit notes with hints of earthy tea like herbal hops well off in the background. All in all I dig this.
