375 ml. bottle sampled @ Vini, Birre, Ribelli 2014. Dark wood brown, little mocha bubbles only on the side. Nose is huge ashes & charred oak, charred coffee, liquorish,… Taste is vinous red grapes mixed with charred coffee, ashes, roast, burned, charred,… Bit thin body. More unique than good. Interesting never the less. This would probably get higher scores if it were labelled as a “sour/wild ale” instead of “Imperial Stout”.

Bottle sample @ Vini, Birre, Ribelli ’14, Bruxelles.

Aroma is odd and sourish with coffee notes and jalopeno-like vegetables. Flavour is tart with some grapefruit, citron, coffee and some rubbery tones. Weird, just 5 minutes ago the aroma was ok. I hope I’d tasted it then.

Bottle (vintage 2011) shared at GBBF 2013. Many thanks to some kind man at the table! Pours black with a creamy brown head. The nose holds char, tangy dark malts and light peat. Light to medium sweet flavour with oil, tar, burnt wood, light smokey peat and definitely some tangy dark malts. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Tangy finish, fairly roasty, with dark berries. Alright but I really don’t go for tangy elements in my stouts. (August 2013, score: 3.2)

Draft at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014 - Red Session. Pours dark brown with a bubbly, tan head. The nose holds heavy burnt wood, some spicy cedar, burnt pine. Medium sweet flavour, very dry and tannic, with some rubber and ash. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Drying on the finish, with lots of burnt rubber and faint cocoa. Eh, not very enjoyable overall. (May 2014, score: 3.0)
