Bottle shared by Bruce at GBBF 2013. It pours darkest brown with a small light tan head. The nose is lightly tart, vinous, jammy fruits, berry yoghurt and a touch of spice. The taste is mellow roast, toast, tangy berry, jammy fruits, granny smith apple, vinous, red grape skin, coffee grinds, spice and earth with a dry, roasty finish. Medium+ body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Nice jammy aspect to, but not great depth. Decent.

Bottle bought at GBBF 2013 and drunk at home. Black beer with thin tan head. Spicy coffee aroma, no doubt. It’s way too spicy. The coffee is ok, but the spice kills mostly everything else. Goes quite well with the BBQ chicken I am eating though.

Courtesy of Jan (fonefan); vintage 2009, 3 years old, batch PMER01-1210
Black color, small brown color. Deep aroma of roasted malts, cardboard, phenol, light sourness, hints of fruits, nice pungent coffee hint. Smooth mouthfeel, strong roasted malt flavor, coffee, with pleasant underground acidity, and a touch of liquorice that may be coming from the china bark. Rather dry.
Complex, although not my favorite blend.

375ml bottle. Pitch black colour with average, frothy to creamy, lasting, lacing, beige head. Sweet chocolately aroma with a vinous touch, fruity notes of grapes, hints of cooked vegetables. Taste is minimally sourish, dry dark chocolately, notes of fruit parings, a leather touch; some chocolate in the finish. More or less simply sourish and leather-like with way too light a body to compensate. Botch.

Bottle at home. Vintage 2009. Has a pitch black colour with a medium brown head. A bit weird aroma with a lot of roast along with tobacco, heavy coffee and some port and alcohol. What a taste! No balance! Crazy flavour of coffee, leather, milk chocolate, and some sourness in the end. Aging for three years didnt do the trick. Or, how does this beer taste when its fresh!? Soft and slick mouthfeel, and medium bitterness. The beer gets a bit better after a couple of mouthfuls but is pretty special.
