Double New England-Style IPA
We were asked… incessantly. So, here we are; a New England IPA from Bell’s. Our twist? We doubled it. This beer comes directly from our innovation pipeline starting at our original brewery then moving to our Comstock Brewery for larger distribution. It is juicy (tropical, mango and pineapple hop aromas) with a full body and soft bitterness.

Pours hazy copper oranger with a one finger head. Very fruity aroma with citrus and tropical fruit. The flavor has ample hops but not high bitterness so it’s true to style. There’s hip resin and juicy tropical fruit. Malty backbone. Very good.

Pint can thanks to Drake! Hazy to murky orange with a soft yellowish head. Orange, somewhat juicy, pineapple, green leaf nose. Mango, pineapple, pine, orange and grapefruit peel, orange pulp. Held up well - got buried in the back of the fridge.

Quarantine Beer #146 sampled at home on 05/25/2020. Hazed orange-gold color with a medium bone white head that recedes gradually to a film. Sticky strings of lace. Floral hop, tropical fruit and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of herbal hops, pineapple, grapefruit and bready malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a fruity hoppy aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Can thanks to Ben! Pours a slightly hazy yellow gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a combination of flora, mango and papaya with some slightly bitter citrus underlying. Flavor has dank citrus and papaya with a light mango and pineapple backing.

Can - well, leave it to Bell’s to do a better job than many of the innovators of the style - I’d put this up against any of the much-lauded Weldwerks beers of the same ilk - in fact, I enjoy this more than a lot of the Weldwerks NEDIPA’s - hugely drinkable and juicy, with a refreshing zesty citrus character throughout - alcohol strength is imperceptible - finishes with a light spiciness and tropical character - super tasty.

Pint can from Shottle Bop, 6/20/20. Hazy orange, large creamy and frothy tan head, good retention. Aroma of melon, pineapple, dank, tropical fruit. Taste is mango, pineapple, lime, melon. Medium bodied, low bitterness, booze well hidden. This is my 3rd one. I like.

Can from Bine & Vine. Pours darkly hazy gold with a foamy white head. Aroma is tropical and juicy. Hints of cannabis. More than med body. Juicy. Moderately dry. More than moderately bitter. Mango and either passion fruit or pineapple. There is an astiringency. Malt support. Pretty tasty. Actually mouthwatering.

Can from Holiday Market. Pours a clearish gold with a finger of white foam that lingers. Dank hop aromas on the nose with some durian, pineapple and strawberry notes. Citrus, durian, peach and light berry notes on the palate with some prickly pear and warming alcohol. More durian on the finish with pine and dank notes on the finish. Not really a Double NEIPA, but more of an double IPA with modern hops....still an enjoyable beer.
