There is so much fun involved in creating Dark Horizon. Once it ferments, everyone in the brewery are very enthusiastic and pay close attention. Is the yeast still active? Is everything OK? How does the flavours evolve? Dark Horizon is normally dark and velvety. Muscovado sugars provides good fruity aromas. The coffee is a chapter on its own. The green beans will first be treated alfa amylase, an enzyme brewers enjoy working with. Then we mash the green beans before drying and roasting them. This gives it the unique flavor Dark Horizon deserves. Share Dark Horizon with someone you think deserves it.

Flaske 0,25l fra Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. Batch 857/858. Drukket på RV124 7 Feb 14. Svart.

Tap at BKL 2014. Coffee roast and demera sugar nose. Black, deep brown head. Fullbodied, viscous, dark chocolate, brown sugar, berries, light chili. A bit sweet, broken up well by the hops though.

Bottle - Dark fruit, dark roast beans, oaky sweetness. Jet black with a thin brown head. An earthy roast, spicy, bitter astringency, chocolate, espresso and tons more. This just rocks, with none of the big abv. Thankfully this is a small bottle or I would be trashed.

250ml bottle, batch 857/858, no. 10925, wrapped in red paper, in a three sided box, bought at Vinmonopolet Tromsø Langnes. Oily pour into a tulip shaped glass. Jet black body with a deep rustic tint. Tan-coloured head reduced to a bubbly ring. Fragile lacework. Velvety aromas of roasted dark malts, dark berries and mild vapour of alcohol. Comprehensive taste profile of dark chocolate, cold coffee, dried fruits and burnt sugar – all in fine harmony. Nice, long-lived bittersweet ending tingled with alcohol. Warming down the swallow. Lovely. My kind of sipper on a Friday eve (rating no. 7000, at home 10.01.2014).

Bottle. Black beer with a brown head. Rich malt and chocolate aroma with coffee. Sweet caramel/toffee flavor with coffee and light chocolate. Medium-plus bodied. Sweet caramel/toffee lingers with coffee and vanilla.

Rerate, 250 ml bottle in triangular cardbox box and wrapped in red paper, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 16%, 100 IBU. Pitch black colour, moderate to low beige head. Strong roasty aroma, notes of coffee, molasses, liquorice, fusel and alcohol. Warming mouthfeel, as expected. Sweet and rich roasty flavour, notes of coffee, molasses, caramel, vanilla, liquorice, dark chocolate and bittering hops. Fairly impressive, but I am lowering the score a bit. Original rating: Temporary rating, sample from 250 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger.
Will re-rate as soon as I sample a whole bottle. Astonishingly smooth and pleasant flavour, very tasty, but not extreme.

Bottle @Beer Hunters
Dark opaque black color, small brown head. Alcohol, sweet syrup, coffee, dark malts - similar to some other DHs. Quite sweet, but not overly sweet. Full-bodied. Roasted malty, coffeish. Much more drinkable than DH3, but still this is not outstanding beer like DH1. Straightforward, could be more complex for this ABV.
