Pours with a small head and a very muddled, hazy-of-sun on a cloudy day, yellow. It’s a yellow that does not glow or shine but as if mud became the color yellow, cannot see through the beer. Aroma is present with light burnt malt, light liquor candy, a muddy sweetness, and faint lemon citrus. Some very faint wild/tart aspect. Taste is light fruit and citrus with the aftertaste burnt malt and faint cardboard. I want to talk about the label a bit, first of all what’s up with the bland design, I really thought this was an old bottle, at least 10 years and was surprised to see the freshness date. And what is a "K-Star" and what do they mean by "old style." Then, it says high fermentation, well if they mean temperature, well there are not any characteristics of that. If I were rating the label I would 11.2oz bottle BB 2/18/2008, De Koningshoeven small goblet glass.

Bottled. Sparkling, golden beer with an off-white head. Pleasant, sweet, quite weak aroma with cellar-notes. The flavor has some acidity with sweetness and cellar/yeast-notes. Medium body with some fizzyness. (060328)

Bottled. Apricotty orange colour, mediumsized foamy white head. Bitter fruity aroma. Bitter fruity flavour with vegetably hints. Wellbalanced. Otherwise nice but the flavour is the weak link here...

(Bottle 25 cl) Aged sample - vintage 1988. 5% ABV in this version. Dark amber, absolutely no head and very low in carbonation. Very soft mouthfeel but very full still. Notes of both nuts and coffee - weird combination. Spicy - but again - soft. I reckon I should try this fresh one day, this sample was obviously too old. 070398

Bottlled (BB 01/2007)
Hazy orange color, small white head. Dry hoppy, horse blanket aroma, underlying some sweetness. Not very strong but some "Orval-character". Light-bodied, grassy and citrusy, but quite watery - weak malt profile. Bitterish aftertaste.
