Rating from a sample in very bad condition (the remains of a bottle which had leaked during transport...). Loose, off-white head disappearing quickly due to the loss of carbonation, colour a murky ochre blonde. Very estery aroma, not unpleasant actually, but clearly fermentation a bit out of control, as is often the case with these Wallonian micro brews; I’m sure this would have been a huge gusher if it had survived the trip in better condition. I get overripe peach and pear, gooseberry, some banana, candi sugar, caramel candy, wet hay, aniseed, straw, white pepper, dried orange peel, dandelion. Fruity onset, berries and pear, less sweet than expected based on the aroma, soft and supple mouthfeel again suffering from the loss of carbonation due to the leaking; yeasty, with agreeable caramel malt sweetness underneath, spicy notes, cloves, finish medium long and dry with some peppery and earthy, ’deep’ hop bitterness, not unpleasant and providing balance; some powdery yeastiness also lingers in the throat and retronasally, I get quite a high dosis of spicy, almost aniseed-like phenols. I liked this, too bad it arrived in such bad state at my tasting table, but it seems promising, so I will surely try a new one when I get the opportunity.

Pours clear blonde, big white head. Smell is dry hay and spices. Waaw, extremely overcarbonated...Taste is bitter , some funky yeast ... Is it because of the location ( and the fact I know where it has been brewed ) or does this really taste very damn simmilar to orval? Not like its actually the exact same taste, but its very comparable.
