Large weizen glass pour at the brewpub. Comes to the table with a large frothy head and a dark brown color, too dark to see through. The head eventually fades to a surface covering lacing. Aroma is strong with dark ripe banana esters, lots of strong earthy bark, and lots of thick dark malt flavors including light chocolate, raisins, etc. The mouthfeel is a bit spiky and mineral. The taste is a nutty, leafy, forest with esters around it. Easy drinking as usual for Black Forest. Another very nice brew.

Served in a weizen glass at the brewpub - pours a cloudy dark amber/brown, with a frothy, well-sustained tan head - strong earthy wheat in the aroma, with notes of cocoa and dried cherries - the flavor starts with some light phenols and bubblegum character - develops a light sweetness through the middle, with dried fruits - cocoa flavors develop as the beer dries out - tangy, tart wheat through the long finish - nice and full in the mouth, with hints of clove and other spices - a tasty and super-drinkable dunkelweizen.
