Growler from brewpub filled within the hour. Bartender (dressed as an angle for Halloween) told me this was a brown ale with pumpkin. Pours with a big head that turns into a surface covering lacing. Color is dark cola, too dark to see through but a bit clearer on the edges. Aroma is thick, lightly chocolate malts and then lightly grainy pumpkin with a good dose of spices. Comes off as a chocolate pumpkin muffin - really cool aroma. Its earthy, chocolate-y and pumpkin-y. The brown ale and the pumpkin meld very well. Flavor has a thinner malt presence coming out, with such a strong and special aroma I would have liked a thicker beer. There is still plenty of spices though. A bit mineral and cola-like at the end of the flavor. A bit of a seltzer feel at the end of the flavor as well. Goes down easy though, doesn’t leave any residual sweetness, just an aftertaste of pumpkin muffins.
