A great introduction to craft brewed beer, since there is enough malt and hop flavor in our Pilsner to keep even the most sophisticated beer drinkers coming back for more. Did you know? Czech saaz hops are exalted throughout the world for the unique crisp taste they impart ot world class lagers. They come from the western region of the Czech Republic, Bohemia. They are the most expensive hops in the world. Though Barley’s Pilsner looks and drinks like a pilsener, we brew it using ale yeast. Technically, it would be classified as a Light Hybrid. Step aside, Prius.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a dark golden color with a small foamy white head that left minimal lacing. The aroma was tangy with cracker and a hint of perfumey hops. The flavor was tangy and sweetish with grass, perfume and artificial grape notes. Medium length finish. Medium body. Pretty good for what it is.

I had this on tap at the brewpub.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a glossy orange to ruddy red. A bar pour’s kind of head dissipated within about a quick twenty seconds.
The smell had a sweet German malt, fairly authentic.
The taste took the German malt to sweeten and roll adequately into the aftertaste and leave a nice wet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed good for the style and for me.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good German pilsener, pass the bratwurst!

On tap at the brewpub. Clear golden with medium fluffy bright white head. Aroma is light pilsner malt, light body, light/medium carbonation, and pretty good thin small-bubble lacing. Taste is pilsner malt and crisp hops. Not bad for what it is.

Tap @ brewpub #1 into a pint glass. Pours a completely clear yellow color with visible carbonation and a sticky lacing. Aroma is clean white bread maltiness. Takes a bit of a twist at the end with some light, low key, earthy hops. Taste is a crisp pils, not much more I can say... a bit doughy maybe. All in all a very nice pils, no flaws but nothing to distinguish it either. Surprised at some of the low ratings, must have gotten a fresh/good batch.

I am not a real pilsner fan but this brew is adequate among lighter fare. Golden color and slightly bitter. Would be better with a little more body.
