7.5/10 Appearance 8 Aroma 7 Flavor 7 Texture 8 Overall 8
Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a dark brown color with a finger’s worth of creamy colored head. Sly messy lacing.
The aroma had some sweet to roasty coffee almost espresso bean-esque quality. Subtle vanilla wafers. Robust cocoa beans trickle in.
The flavor blends all of the previously mentioned aromas together with a nice semi-earthy backup. Crisp wafers-ish to coffee roastiness hits the aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt good.
Overall, very nicely done porter that I would have again.

on tap-pours a light brown head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-roasty/coffee/chocolate. Tast is dark malt-coffee/roasty/anise, ashy, some astringency, earthy. Finishes a bit thin.

Picked this growler up at Spotty Dog in Hudson, NY. I remember when the bar tender was filling up the growler and I could smell the chocolate from the beer already. When poured out of the growler, the body is completely black and is accompanied by a beautiful dark tan head. Its a mish-mash of chocolate, lots of roast, coffee and great drinkability. Sweetness from cocoa and not sugar. Melds well, looks beautiful and is easy to drink. Highly recommended .

Growler shared by beastiefan2k (thanks, spicy butt!) - really pretty black pour, with a substantial, lasting lace - aroma of roasted malt, some lactose, mild vegetal qualities (that somehow work!), strong black coffee - the flavor is semi-dry and roasty, with notes of tobacco and espresso - a little bit of tartness and char on the end - a solid porter.
