Rich and dark, our vesrion of an Irish classic boasts a balanced blend of British Maris Otter Pale, Chocolate, and roasted barley malts. Finishing with a pleasing hint of English Fuggles hops, this beer is served on a nitrogen tap for the traditional creamy head.

Sampler at the brewpub. Lots of strong black patent like aromas but not the bitterness - fumy, debittered ash. Flavor is just a much more watery version. I liked the aroma but the flavor could not hold it up. A bit burnt in the aftertaste. Lower acidity.

On nitro at the brewery. Opaque deep brown body, medium creamy brown head. Light roasty nose with some char. Dry, chocolaty body, with cocoa powder, char/burnt wood, and leathery, salty notes, picking up some caramel and dark fruit with warmth, quite rich for the style. The lack of woody, acidic astringency is always a plus.

tap at the brewery (beer hunters please note: my notes are months old) - Pours very dark brown with a chocolate malt aroma. It has a sweet flavor with ample chocolate malt present. It seems a little watery for a stout. Itβs alright but Iβm not impressed.
