First brewed back in 2004, Curieux was our initial foray into barrel aging. To make Curieux, we take our Tripel and let it age in bourbon barrels for six-to-eight weeks. Once that time is up, we take the beer out of our cold cellars and blend it back with a portion of fresh Tripel. The resulting rich, golden ale features smooth notes of coconut, vanilla, and a hint of bourbon.

Bottle from the Shaw of PTC! Big thanks chuck. Nose is mild yeast forward. Slight haze on pale with a nice big head that does not fade. Initial impression is that its not as civilized as most belgians but then I look at the label and WHAT! It's 10.2 %! (says 11 on this site) Big taste bud wow and big alky impact fer sure. Now, I'm not sure if it really tastes like 10.2, maybe more like 8 or so. So, I guess its kind of civilized for what it is? Lots of yeast effects on the taste buds in this one. Yea, most of the real beldgies have a muted yeast character although you know its there its not in yer face; but this stuff is right up front saying hey, there is lots of yeast in here hehehheheheh. Does lack many of the iff ale effects but that yeast and the volatile feel of this is not real pleasant. But hey, I think I'm catching a little buzz as I near the end of the session. I'm starting to forget about anything negative in the brew. There you have it.

Slight bourbon or smoky flavors to cut much of the typical Tripel candy sweetness. Slight bitterness. Missing the usual sharp alcohol flavors of the style, and spicy notes are hard to detect over the bourbon.

Light golden. Spicy yeast, sugary grains, yeah is a Tripel alright. A bit of vanilla, allspice, orange peel. Over medium sweet, solid bitter. Over medium bodied, nice sparkly carbonation, a bit of booze. Not my favorite style, but well done.

Clear gold blond beer, creamy dense white head, stable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: fruity, banana, malty, cow fodder, yeasty, more fruity notes, nice! MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: a little bitter, hoppy, earthy, lots of alcohol, dry, a little malty, hint of vanilla. Aftertaste: apples, apple skin, dry and bitter, a hint of diacetyl, slightly sweet in the finish.

12oz bottle (10.2% ABV), poured into an old Corsendonk stemmed tulip glass at my daughters on 23rd January 2022. Light haze to the golden body, sediment particles swirling around, snow white head. Belgian like yeasty front to the boozy nose with a sweetness in the first sip. Liked the alcohol bite. Nice nightcap!

12 oz. Aroma is bready, vanilla, (light) banana, peppery. Pours hazy golden with one finger off-white foam with decent retention. Taste is sweet with faint bitterness; flavors like the aroma descriptors. Warming sense of alcohol warms the belly, but it's not boozy by any means. Perfect creamy mouthfeel. Delicious.

Flaska från SB. Klar gyllengul vätska med medelhögt vitt skum. Alkoholburna estriga dofter, kryddor, söta äpplen. Värmande alkohol, nejlika och andra julkryddor, lite bourbon, säd, honung, mogen banan. Det finns en bra trippel där men jag vet inte om jag tycker fatlagringen tillfört något positivt. Ok+
