First brewed back in 2004, Curieux was our initial foray into barrel aging. To make Curieux, we take our Tripel and let it age in bourbon barrels for six-to-eight weeks. Once that time is up, we take the beer out of our cold cellars and blend it back with a portion of fresh Tripel. The resulting rich, golden ale features smooth notes of coconut, vanilla, and a hint of bourbon.

Bottle picked up from Beer Republic webshop Breda Netherlands and consumed sat inside Frank (door open) at Camping Grabner, Seefeld/Steinbach am Attersee Saturday 18th May 2024, Loz made Mexican Burgers they were great. We did a great 14km hike today. Pours hazy gold with a sticky white head. The aroma isn't as barrel aged (bourbon scented) as you might think, taste is more noticeable. Soft mouthfeel, a little bit boozy, some oomph... It's definitely a Tripel but it's certainly ramped up. Nice.

Clear gold with a thick white head. Smells sweet and bready. Flavour is sweet and bready, with a good whack of bourbon both sweet and warming, a little citrus through it. Warm, sweet, a little spicy. Very tasty stuff.

355ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Aug 23. Thanks Simon for this. Pours a misty yellow, small amount of white foam atop. Nice sweet shades, harmonious blend with very subtle bourbon, although in a blind tasting I would've said more of a white wine barrel influence.. a touch sugary on the finish, gently sweet Belgian yeast.. exquisite sipper, but tastes half its strength and expected more Jim Beam to come through.
