First brewed back in 2004, Curieux was our initial foray into barrel aging. To make Curieux, we take our Tripel and let it age in bourbon barrels for six-to-eight weeks. Once that time is up, we take the beer out of our cold cellars and blend it back with a portion of fresh Tripel. The resulting rich, golden ale features smooth notes of coconut, vanilla, and a hint of bourbon.

Bottle shared at the RBESG 2014, grand tasting 09/08/2014. Thanks to Colin. Orange / golden coloured pour with a mid haze, with a loose white head. Aroma is hot alcohol and caramel, wheaty, light spices. Perhaps past its best. Flavour is composed of, caramel, wheaty grains, warming alcohol, spices, cinamon and some hot alcohol. Palate is semi full body, highish carbonation. semi sweet.

Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok Belgo affair.

Bottle shared at RBESG 2014 Grand Tasting. Hazy pale yellow color, average sized off-white head. Smell and taste sweetness, some alcohol, slightly hops, some bourbon for sure, slightly vanilla. Interesting, but to me it once more proves barrel aging doesnโt really work with tripels.

Very smooth somewhat sweet mouth feel followed by a small amount of alcohol heat from the bourbon aging. A very nice beer.

Bottle thanks to Colin at RBESG 2014 Grand Tasting. It pours hazy gold with a small white head. The nose is big wood, earth, funk, vanilla, coconut, spice, dust basement, dust, cobwebs and must. The taste is sweet, toasted grain, big raw booze, must, stone fruits, dull sweetness, wood, vanilla, leather and varnish with a hot finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Damn this shit is hot. Too hot.

Drought. Cloudy yellow with creamy light beige head, slight citrus aroma, low carbonation, spicy taste (cinnamon?), very subtle bourbon at the background, medium finish. An exquisite taste!
