12oz bottle poured into a Jolly Pumpkin & Maui Brewing Sobrehumano tulip. Pours a ruby brown with a small head that fades quickly. Too dark to see through the beer. Aroma is strong with uncontrolled Belgian yeast esters (sweet rotten pear) and some mild earthiness trying to take the edge off the crazy sweet candy esters. Flavor is a bit more doable with slightly subdued esters that come off more like very ripe pear mixed with estery caramel. Has a bit of a spritzy finish, again to take the edge off the beer. Bottom line: another American beer that doesnโ€™t know what to do with a Belgian yeast, particularly for a dubbel.

12 bottle. Nice ruby-brown, unfiltered body. Thin, glass rimming beige head. Really pleasant, pulls it off rather well. Pronounced yeast tones..raisin, plum...balanced and complemented by the chocolate malt, maybe candi sugar tones. At 7.5% itโ€™s not overbearing, which really works well here. Drinkable, and while sweet and full bodied, remains balanced and refreshing.

From notes. Screw City Beer Fest. Got this bad boy from a growler from Potosi. Damn good beer. Milk and dark chocolate with a slight hint of coffee and a decent backbone of Trappist yeast. I would love to try this one again.
