Cask@Southampton Arms. Deep amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is nutty, a bit spicy along with some fruity, wooden and slightly honeyish notes. Flavour is toffee, caramel malts, quite big on the wooden bitterness. Also some spices and mild nutty notes as it warms up a bit.

Cask at the Southampton Arms London on 26 July 2010. Hazy copper with cruddy white head. Sweet malt and fairly light grass hop. Smooth mouthfeel and increasingly dry finish but a background sweetness remains. Drinkable, but not a personal favourite.

Cask at the Red Lion, Hythe, Kent. An attractive gold colour with a thin cream head that leaves heavy lacing; malt aroma; smooth and creamy texture with rich caramel malts and a dry biscuity flavour; followed by a strong English hop bitter finish. An excellent, well-rounded ale.

Cask@Kent Beer Festival 2006. Copper brown, small white head. Butterscotch aroma with some fruity notes. Slightly sweet and toffeish flavor too - propably from the presence of diacetyl. Mildly hoppy - ok session ale I suppose, when clean.

Cask at Chambers Bar, Folkestone. Chestnut brown, quite a hoppy nose, good smack of hops in moouth, with some malt. A good best bitter, good length of hoppy bitterness and good balanced. Could easily have drunk this all night. Good start to my second 100 beers 3.4/5 re-rate, the perfect best bitter, good malts and good peppery hop finish
