33 cl. bottle @ Bier Central. Bright golden with a creamy white head. Smells of sweet esters, quite a bit of apples, yeast, sweetish, flowers, but sharp spicy touch as well,… Taste is that of sharp esters blended with some young sweeter apples, touch grains, alcohol is clear and not very hidden, hay, flowers and harp yeast,… warming. Body is very effervescent. A fine and dandy triple.

33cl bottle @ home. Clear yellow to golden color, full sized off-white head that lasts for a decent while. Smell malts, lightly yeast, coocked vegetables and lightly herbs and spices. Taste malts, slightly herbal or floral hops, some bitterness. Flavor is a weird mix. It also makes me think of leaves and leather, though it’s not a bad beer overall. Medium carbonation, medium body.

Pour is a murky yellow with a small white head. Aroma is faint fruity esters and not much else. Flavor is a little fruit but mostly its just a dull malt. This may be one of the worst triples I’ve had from Belgium. Flavorless and boring.

Pours deep cloudy gold into a tulip. White head with excellent retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Caramel, bread and fruit aromas. Dry with bread, hay and caramel upfront turning to earthy bitter pepper in the lasting finish.

Brown 33cl stubby bottle, poured into a Westmalle Chalice. I allowed some of the sediment (by mistake) to enter the glass, so the beer took on a slightly hazy look. Old orange peel colour with a crisp white foaming head. A sweetish aroma, apple pie with a caramel crust, mixed with yeast and grapefruit esters, nice! Its best before date was 7th Apr 2012, so it was very fresh when reviewed (4th Nov 2009). It was spritzy and tart, young and refreshing, ageing could well mellow the beer, who knows? The taste was an agreeable blend of what a tripel should taste of; good quality hops, barley and yeasts, brewed in that Belgian way no one else on earth can quiet manage. Considering it has 7.5%ABV within, it didn’t seem to carry an alcoholic kick, you could detect the strenght but it didn’t creep up on you like some tripels I’ve had, nor did it protrude out like a pointed stick. Very easy to drink and put me in the mood for more beers, sadly I had things to do.

A hazed amber ale with a thin big bubbled lacing off white head. In aroma, sweet rosewater, creamy, lightly maderized. In mouth, a sweet candy sugar with rosewater, light orange peels, tired and watery.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at Hilpeä Hauki, 20120124) The beer poured deep golden and hazy. Its head was large, white and long lasting. Aroma had honey, fruitiness, alcohol and initially some sulphur. Palate was medium bodied, tongue numbing and warming with quite high carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, hops, honey, quite mild sweetness, alcohol and bitterness. Aftertaste was boozy and bitter. Not completely bad tripel but disappointing still.
