4/V/2012 - 25cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ a BBQ - BB: 29/XI/12 (2012-467)

Clear red to rust brown beer, small aery head, dissipates immediately, little adhesive. Aroma: sweet cherries, sugary, cherry yogurt. MF: ok carbon, light body. Taste: tart start, cherries, green apples, some lemon, little sweet. Aftertaste: bitter touch, yogurt, somewhat metallic. Not the worst kriek ever, and at least not as cloying sweet, but not very great either.

25cl bottle, 5.5% abv, this is an oud bruin, not a fruit beer.

When my friend Michel K. bottled this beer, it was just called "Kriek" by Louis Cnudde. Mix of his brown ale, and the wild-fermenting cherrywine in the cellar...Anyway, this dates from the end of the eighties... Fully hazy red-brown, no head to speak of. Sweet impression, with condensed fruitaromas, bit of almondy from the stones, and already some oxydation (!). Very tart, frutiy, woody as nothing else, peppery-oaky, and deep-deep old cherries. And a few oxydation notes, oxydated walnutoil. Oxydation and age have made this lighter than it was. A superb blend. But then you ought to try the unmixed contents of the cherry fermenters...
