Bottle at the New Union, Kendal. Dark hazy brown with a beige head and a light fizz. Liquorice to the fore before muscovado sugar, raisins, brown bread and toffee emerge, along with a hint of nut. If it weren't for the liquorice I would probably like this a lot more, but sadly I don't like liquorice. It must be good though given that I scored it above average despite the liquorice.

(Bottle - 8 months past BB date) Lovely looking beer - clear deep brown with ruby highlights and a good dense tan head. Nice aroma - bread, banana, toffee, read berries. Medium bodied with mouth filling carbonation. Taste of dark toffee with notes of bread and pleasant bitter finish. Very nice.

Enjoyed at the Guesthouse at St Bernardus in Watou. What a great experience. Pours brown with beige head. Rich bread and dark fruit on both aroma and flavor. The ambiance helps to make this so enjoyable.

Bottle Pours dark amber with beige head. Yeasty, sweetish, bit spicy. My bottle was obviously quite aged. But fine.

11.2 oz into a weird Kwak glass. Aroma has notes of dates, toffee, apple, bread. Pours chestnut brown with a giant cream soda brown-white head that lasts forever. Taste is sweet with light bitterness. Lots of fruity esters and some bready malt character.

Bottle from the Belgian Beer Shop, Leuven. An easy going nice dubbel. Balancing the sweetness and bitterness well, it doesnt punch in any particuarl direction. Good lasting foam and colour. Enjoyed the accompanying st bernadus cheese with it.
