Draught @ 5th Borefts Beer Festival 2013, Brouwerij de Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands. [ As Alvinne Balthazar II ].Clear medium to dark red brown color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, wood, smoke, dried fruit notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, wood, dry, smoke. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20130927]

Clear red brown beer, creamy irregular beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: red fruits, sourish, cranberries, earthy, tobacco leafs, little smoky. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: pretty smoky, sourish, earthy, some red wine vinegar sourness, bitter hops. Aftertaste: bit sweet, red fruits, tannins, pretty smoky, caramel, dried fruits, some mocha. Enjoyable beer, but not a big fan of the smoke/sour combo.

Tap at the Essen OBER Kerstbierfestival 2013. Poured a deep mahogany with a super frothy light tan head. The aroma is red berry fruit liqourice and aniseed. The flavour is medium sour mediun bitter with a slightly apple acid fruit yeast palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Cloudy with lots of sediment from the bottle. Woody, tannin aroma. Flavour has lots of red wine tartness, plenty of wood and a touch of smoke. Overall too woody and sour.

Tap at Borefts ’13, 28/09/13. Murky reddish amber with little in the way of a head. Nose is tarte berry fruit, woody, caramel. Taste comprises toffee, light spice, booze, dark fruits. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, dry finish with a lick of booze. Decent.

Borefts Beer Festival 5. Day 2. Cloudy amber - brown beer with a residual pale tan head. Palate is light and crispy and semi dry. Mild minerals. Touch of wood. Light generic fruits and a little unsweet caramel. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Tasty.

No head. Aroma is slightly neutral, red berries, heather, oak, grass. Taste is slightly sweet fruity, red berries, grass, hay, oak, almond essence, sugar, hints of smoke maybe. Little bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Boring.

From tap at Borefts 2013. Pours hazy brown with a small off white head. Aroma is toasted malty, light wineous and fruity. Smooth fruity, toasted malty and caramelish. Bitter and light toasted. Dry and bitter into a smooth fruity finish.
