Can. Golden colour with a white head. Aroma is fruit, malt. flavour is sweet, fruit, malt, grain. A little bit boring beer.

Can. Pours a clear, maybe a bit pale, golden body and a nice white head. Pale malt, some weak grainy aroma, a little fruityness and a faint note of cooked vegetables. Sweet on the palate, with cooked vegetables playing a minor part here as well, but overpowered by grains, grass and fruityness. Not much bitterness detected, and it finishes in the same way, sweet and fruity, but low on bitterness. Quite thin on the body. There is a little touch of metal as well in the finish.There’s not much wrong going on here, but there’s not much interesting going on either. Bland and boring, but refreshing. Guess that was what they were aiming for also. (080419)

golden colour and medium, durable white head. Aroma is slightly malty, sweet and there are also some aromas. Flavour is light, little maltay and hoppy. Hoppines is not typical bitter but more civilized. Typical lager with some flavours and hops.

Pale golden colour, small white head. Not much of an aroma -some hops and malts. Taste is hoppy and bready. Not very special, but drinkable.

Bottled. Pale golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is malts, hops and some bready notes. Flavour is malts, hops and some sweetish notes. Pretty much like the old lapin kulta, but "fuller" with stuff now, meaning it’s not that watery anymore.

Brought by a friend from Tallin, Estonia. Pale golden coloured, airy white head, fizzy. Mild malty and hoppy aroma with some sweet notes in the finish.

Remember those so called "cola wars" from 1980s? When Pepsi became more popular than Coke, Coca Cola released "New Coke", which was advertised as "better". Lapin Kulta dominated Finnish markets 1990s, but in the 2000s Koff and especially Karhu became more popular brand. So Hartwall decided to change a recipe of their gem. Now we will see if it was only marketing gimmick or is it really better.
Both versions are golden yellow with very small white head. No difference in EBC values, I suppose. Both have similar sweet malty aroma, but this new version when opened, produced some nice grassy hoppy aromas, it faded away mostly but there was a faint hoppyness in the nose. New version has fullier, more malty body than the old Lapin Kulta. Old one is mainly sweetish malty, harsh and watery, new is more rounded and has better mouthfeel, fizzy finish and tiny tiny amount of hops in the aftertaste.They are both Lapin Kulta for sure, but new version is a step forward. Next target is compare to it brewery’s Karjala. Is THERE any difference?

Lapin Kulta Premium Lager, courtesy of and shared with ozujsko (thanks!) Poured a nice orange-gold colour with a big fluffy white head that went away fast. The nose surprised me first by the fact that it exists, and second that it isn’t bad for this type of lager. Nice hoppiness, some sweet fruity maltiness and dust. The taste is weak, but I’ve had worse. Some metallic hopiness and some weak fruit, smooth, a bit grainy, and that’s pretty much it.
