Produced with yeast that gives the typical spicy aroma, with hints of fresh pepper and floral notes of elderberry and linden. On the palate, vegetable and balsamic notes stand out, given by hops, reminiscent of licorice root.

Volcanic opening. Pours hazy with a large fading head.Nose shows doughy yeast, spicy phenols, faint floral notes and spicy hops. Also faint sweet malt.Very dry flavours; doughy yeast and spicy phenols followed by an almost harsh finish and accompanying alcohol.Way too much carbonation.

Bottle, semi gusher. Hazy gold with a large white head. Aroma of lemon pudding, cloves, vanilla, honey, cracker bread. Sweet with some tangy lemon/ lime flavours, herbs and spices at the bitter but just short of dry finish. Too much bitterness and spice emphasis for my liking in this sort of thing. (Added) And as it warms there’s an unpleasant blood-like taste at the end too.

Bottle, from Dranken Geers, Oostakker nr Gent, Belgium June 2012 consumed at WOMAD Friday 27th July 2012 Watching a band and stood up amongst quite a throng, so tricky rating. This certainly had some typical Saison attributes but was a little muted in terms of flavour and aroma. Howevet to be fair it is now quite dark outside and I cannot really determine the colour all I can smell is burnt cheese which I’m sure is from a food stall. Beer seems fine but tasting this in testing conditions will re-rate again at some point. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov12 3.0

Slightly hazy golden colour, firm white head. Aroma of hay, lots of yeast, generic sweets (zuurtjes), light barnyard. Malty sweet flavour, bread, light fruity. Malty sweet finish, quite herbal, light cloying.
Starts out nice, but can’t keep it up.

Bottled. A murky golden beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of citrusy hops, spices, and yeast. The flavor is sweet with notes of spices, lemons, yeast, and malt, leading to a dry yeasty finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a cloudy golden with lot a of floaties and a small off-white head. Odd rotten fruit and quite some yeast in the nose. Medium body, somewhat fruity and then strangely bitter. An odd beer for the style. 200612
