Deep golden in color, BridgePort IPA has an assertive and fragrant hop character from the two full pounds of Cascade, Chinook, Goldings, Crystal and Ahtanum hops in every barrel. / (Our Original IPA) Over 20 years ago, our Original IPA set the standard for an American brewed IPA by using only the freshest Pacific Northwest ingredients available. That tradition continues today. We blend 5 hop varieties grown locally in the Willamette Valley to create a signature floral and citrus aroma. Bottle-conditioned to perfection, BridgePort IPA is exceptionally balanced with a soft round body and robust character.

A gift from a friend visiting from Oregon. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy bright golden color with a large yellow-white head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was strong sweet grapefruit and pine. The flavor was strong grapefruit and pine with moderate bitterness and a somewhat sweet caramel undertone and a touch of lemon zest. The finish was medium length fruity and piney hops. Fairly full boded. Well done.

Cask at GBBF. Golden with a small white head. Weak citrus aroma with grapefruit peel, some caramel in the background. Sweetish citrus flavour that somehow gave me a homebrew feel.

12 ounce bottle from Total Wine Triangle Plaza, Raleigh, NC. Pours a very hazy peach color with a thin head that dissipates quickly. Fruity, floral hop aroma with a bit of a bitter bite to it at the end. A good bit of toffee also. Taste is toffee malts with citrus hops. There is a bitterness that grows slowly and lingers. Medium bodied. Nice, well balanced IPA.

Cask at the Bridgeport Brewery. Slightly cloudy dark gold color with lace. Very fruity citrus aroma; nice hops. Not very fragrant, but nice. Light malt flavor, fragrant grassy hops, pine, reasonably bitter finish. This alone of the cask beers was better than the keg version, which was very cardboardy.

I started my drinking sessions at the Great British Beer Festival 2009 with three IPAs from USA. All of them were served in a one-third pint glass from gravicask at USA & Rest of the World Bar provided by Bièrs Sans Frontières. This one had a remarkably clear, golden-amber body with a bubbly ring around the rim of the glass. Plain and pleasant hoppy to the nose. Initial taste of fruity hops followed by notes of pine-resin developing towards a fairly dry bitter finish. Rounded mouthfeel. Typical for the style, I would say (GBBF, Earls Court, London 04.08.2009).
