This incomparable strong Scottish style lager shares the values of its clan : pride in its origins, the strength of its typical and powerful taste, and the nobility of its refinement. Bottled (BB 07/2007)
Dark golden color, decent foamy white head. Cardboard malty, a fruity nose. Medium-bodied. Sweet, malty with peach and banana notes. Alcohol picks up in the finish. Not great but better than Gordon Finest Silver. Not much scottish character found anyhow.

Durchwachsen. Test vom 30.10.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,5,9,8,14,7 - 8,00

(Bottle 33 cl) Label says brewed in Edinburgh for John Martin. Deep golden with an almost absent head. Sweet malts with a pronounced bitter finish that hides the alcohol fairly well. But still this is an extremely potent beer. Are we sure this is top-fermented? 150398 (Bottle 33 cl) Version called "Gordon Finest Gold Blond Merry Xmas" brewed by Scottish Courage in Edinburgh. 5/3/5/2/10=2,5 220302

(bottle from a Belgian supermarket) Clear golden colour with a creamy diminishing white head. Sweet caramellish malty aroma with a strong touch of glue. The taste is too sweet and alcoholic (for me) and leaves not much room for more. Only a slight hint of bitterness at the finish. Rather disappointing strong Ale from Belgium.

A dark orange beer with a huge though collapsing off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of alcohol as well as hints of caramel. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of alcohol which gives it notes of metal. The alcohol runs warming over the tongue, but is too much for me. The flavor also contains notes of caramel. The finish is warm and quite dry - as if the alcohol suck the water out of the mouth.

Dark orange-gold; huge yellowish tinted head, fluffy and fast dwindling. Roasted, and toasted, nose, candi sugar, caramel and alcohol. Again roasted taste, malty, both sweet and caramelised, and loads of alcohol - definitely part of the taste in this one. Butter toffees, bit grass, cheap liqueur as supermarket Pineau des Charentes . Slick mouthfeel, alcohol obvious without real -burn, which is remarkable for such strenght. Some time ago, I wondered about "Het Kanon" being called ’Malt liquor’. This is more one, albeit top-fermenting. Out of a can, to top it.

Golden color. Malty, strong; alcohol; well hopped. Better than I expected.

Pretty light for 10% - malty, sugary accent. Some esters. Can you believe I saw this stuff in .5L cans in Belgium?
