2011 batch 2 I think this was an etre gourmet exclusive that some how ended up on the shelf at hopduvel ghent and I stored it in my cellar from March ’13 to January and shard with some friends Nice cork hiss looks flat in the glass. Nose is honey sweet with all-spice and peppercorn Taste is spicy and malty totally spicy like eating a belgian strong ale salad

Bottled 0,75l 2011@HBF. Fruity, Belgian yeasty, pear in the nose. Medium-bodied. Belgian yeast, fruity, alcohol, some pepperness. Not at all Fantome-like, brewed somewhere else?

At a tasting at KyotoLefty’s place. Thick cloudy amber color, vanilla, honey, spicy - saison reminiscent aroma. Medium-full bodied with a bitter, funky & incredibly earthy taste. Interesting but too bitter & funky for me.

Bottle. Honey, cake, biscuit malt, Juicy peach, mango, spicy, light vanilla. Orange amber, lace. Very malts, tangy orange and stone fruits, caramel, light chocolate. Dries out, some bitterness in the finish. Full body.good, not great.

Bottled@HBF2013 (Fantome Clos Preal 2011). Hazy amber colour, small white head. Aroma is mild spices, citrus, some floral notes along with mild mold and caramel. Flavour is mild yeast, spices, some wooden and resiny notes. Good, but still a slight disappointment for being a Fantome...

(Bottle, 0.75 l - 2011 Vintage, at HBF2013) The beer poured golden and orange. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, farmhous and honey. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, honey, sweetness, grass and bitterness. Afteraste was fruity and bitter. Does not taste like a Fantôme beer at all. A good beer but I feel cheated.

Orange golden colour, white head. Aroma of apricot, peach, light funky saison notes, yeast and candy sugar. Quite bitter flavour, malts, quite fruity. Spicy finish, fruity and floral notes.
The 7th and last beer in the Fantôme tasting spree. Amusing.

75cl bottle sample @ RBBWG 2013, courtesy of 77ships.

75 cl. bottle @ RBBWG 2013. Bottled in the same kind of Champagne bottles as 3F in their wake. When some brewers got the peculiar idea that it was the bottles and not the beer that were selling the 3F Armand 4 Series… maybe for a small part but they would have sold anyway. 2011 Version – so first batch? Hazy golden with a serious, firm white head. Smells of sweet peaches, floral, herbs, sharp spices, bit saez touch. Taste is bitter, floral, herbal with a lot of esters, clear fruit, peaches, very fizzy, Champagne-like carbonation, tad saez, makes me think of Duvel a bit, spicy yeast, very light funk, carbonation masks a bbit. Nice but was expeting a bit more – maybe it’s the bottle that threw me off?
