With a great, gleaming moustache, knee-deep in a woodland mash tun, Jack D’Or the barleycorn conjures himself into beer. Helped along by the other “Pretty Things”, the mischievous hops and yeast – a magnificent fester will no doubt ensue! One of the most joyful transformations in nature, better than any rabbit from a hat, beer is the result.
Jack D'Or is a saison americaine: a belgian farmhouse ale with American hops. Dry, bitter, and contrary, this is a beer for all seasons. Available year round, for fun times and happy days. Cheers!

Pours golden from a bottle, some lacing. Aroma of cloves, citrus. Flavor full of yeasty spiciness, more cloves (in a good way), definite barnyard. Well-balanced, good beer.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks Alon. Hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma of fruity esters, spiciness, yeast. Sweetish flavor, fruity, yeasty, with a mildly bitterish and slightly spicy finish, with a light alcoholic note. Medium-bodied.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 8/2015. Pours lightly hazy golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lemon, grapefruit, orange peel, pear, apple, white grape, clove, pepper, pine, light banana/bubblegum, wheat, cracker, light honey, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, citrus/floral hops, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, grapefruit, orange peel, pear, apple, white grape, clove, pepper, pine, light banana/bubblegum, wheat, cracker, light honey, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of yeast spiciness and pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, grapefruit, orange peel, pear, apple, clove, pepper, pine, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, citrus/floral hops, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Good amount of dryness from bitterness/yeast spice as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky/resinous mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome hoppy saison style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, citrus/floral hops, and moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Draught @ Albion. Golden yellow with non-existent head, white ring at the rim, faint vanilla aroma with a hint of citrus, low carbonation, sweet taste with slightly bitter ending, thin body, medium finish with light bitter aftertaste. A bit watery but still nice.

Pour is a hazy yellow with a average white head. Aroma is great! Lots of fruitiness with a big yeast ester. Flavor is lemon juice to start then comes a dull wheaty malt followed by some bitterness and spice. The bottle says this was bottled in Oct 14 so it may be a bit old, maybe I would get more hop is fresher. Still the aroma is great and the flavor is also not bad at all. Nice almost lighter that usual saison.

On tap at the Brick Store. Hazy yellow, with a thin, grey ring. Nice citrusy nose, cardamom, pine, and syrup. Sweet and grainy, with a fair bitterness. Light to medium body, fairly crisp, and syrupy. This is a nice, hoppy, but balanced saison. Not bad!

This brew is a cloudy yellow color with a medium fluffy white head that recedes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, malt and yeast. Medium body with flavors of herbal yeast, citrus and mild hops. The finish is fruity up front with a floral yeast aftertaste. Above average overall.
